Who are the Friends of PVPA?

Founded in 2004, the Friends of PVPA is an independent, volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of current and alumni parents. It was created to support and advance the mission and programs of the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School (PVPA). The Friends serves as the primary fundraising organization for PVPA to support the annual budget needs for all of PVPA’s programs and special projects. The Friends achieve these goals through fundraising activities, public outreach, and by mobilizing resources from the PVPA community of family, alumni and friends.


What is the Annual Fund Campaign?

The Friends of PVPA strives each year to have the Annual Fund Campaign help cover PVPA’s operating expenses. These essential, unrestricted dollars support every student by bridging the gap between state tuition revenue and the actual cost of providing a PVPA education.


What does the Annual Fund Campaign support?

The dollars raised helps cover the operating costs of the school including things like faculty salaries, computer technology, show productions, equipment, facility maintenance and cultural opportunities. The Annual Fund Campaign supports the deep and engaging arts and academic programs we hold so dear.


Does my family participation matter?

Yes! Every gift – no matter the size – is needed and important. We truly value participation in the annual fund campaign. The percentage of parent support is important in the eyes of foundations and major donors. It is considered a sign of institutional strength when donors see broad-based giving.


How much should I give to the Annual Fund Campaign?

We are an economically diverse community and recognize that only you can determine the right gift amount for you and your family. We hope that every family will be as generous as possible. In the past, donations have ranged from $10 to more than $15,000. Gifts of all sizes are needed and welcome. Every dollar makes a difference, and every student benefits.


How do I participate?

Giving to support PVPA is simple – you can write a check payable to “The Friends of PVPA” and mail to: 15 Mulligan Drive, South Hadley, MA 01075. Or, go to the PVPA website,, and click on the “Donate” button on the bottom of our home page. And, remember, your gift is tax deductible.


What if I can’t give at this time?

We want to make giving to PVPA as easy as possible. You can pledge now and defer payment until later; you can also pay in installments, if that is more convenient for you.


Do employer matching gifts count?

Yes. When you make a gift to the Friends of PVPA, you can double or triple its impact by checking with your employer to see if they participate in a matching gift program. Many companies match the value of charitable gifts made by employees and their spouses, board members, and retirees.


Who else is asked to give?

Everyone in the PVPA community.  The Annual Fund seeks support from current and past parents, alumni, trustees, faculty and staff, grandparents and friends. Every gift matters.
